DFG April 2018 Dividend Income


The goal of dividend growth investing is to create an income stream from many companies that increase their dividend each year.  To protect the income stream they should also be a diversified set of stocks across the many sectors of the industry.  Let's see what companies worked for me and deposited those profits into my accounts.

Gladstone Investment increased their dividends which I received for the month.  It was only $.003 per quarter but I will take it.  April is usually a small month for me as most of the companies I hold paid last month.  Still it was a great month compared to last year (only $19.14.)  That is a decent 415% increase mostly from the addition of Cardinal Health.

    Perhaps low month for you, but growth from last year was insane. That's what it's all about. We shared KO as a common payer this month.

    Hi DFG. Nice progress this month, and this year. The YoY growth is there.
    I share CAH with you. They've had a rough go of it lately. Any thoughts of adding more?

2014 Dividends

Sunny day at work. It has been a good day so far.  Donated blood, the sun is shining and summing up my dividends for 2014.  It was a big jump from last year (mainly because I actual bought something).  Now that I got the ball rolling it will be tougher to top a   814% year of year growth for all accounts.  This was largely in part to my IRA which I can't touch until much later in life.  If I just do the YOYG for my taxable account I get a more realistic growth of 224%.   I was never enjoyed math even though I had to go up to Calculus III in college.  So I appreciate the gift of the internet which let me know how to calculate growth .  I haven't set a goal yet but as long as I contribute at least the same amount as last year I will be very happy. My largest payers this year were Windstream in my taxable account and SeaDrill in my IRA.  Well that will be changing this year since SDRL eliminated the dividend .   Well as I have read in your posts and comments many tim

DFG May/June 2018 Dividend Income

Just a quick post that I am still alive and investing (and I have a new job.)  There is much going on in the DFG household right now that I will post in a few weeks or months ;-).  Also, once I transfer my 401k from my previous company which doesn't pay dividends to my IRA there will be another big boost to dividend income.  Below is just a quick snapshot where I am at year to date. August 2014 Dividends

It is almost the middle of September and I am finally getting around to posting last month's dividends .  Boy does time fly when you go to work Monday-Friday and then spend time with your family in the evenings.  Once the weekend hits we try to do something fun on Saturday and then Sunday is church and catch up.  Sometimes I do miss the days when I was actually bored and had to think of things to do.  If I had taken that time in my youth when I was bored and read about dividend investing and saving money things would be different now.  The earlier you start investing the better off you are in the long run.  Time is an investors best friend. So there are the numbers.  Another good month for the IRA with $136 dollars of income I can't touch until much later in life.  I am still including it as seeing those dividends grow is a morale booster for me.  My IRA is about 4 times the size of my taxable account so it will always outpace the one I hold at www.sharebuilder.com
